Frances Moore Contario

February 11, 1960

Once upon a time a long, long, long, long time ago, a baby girl was born, Frances Darlene Moore. Now she's all grown up.

To my favorite sister . . . ok, she is my only sister . . . still my favorite, in spite of all the evil things you did to me as a child. Like the time that the Easter Bunny was coming to town. You and your friend had to baby sit me and wanted to drink but I was a tattle-tale. Ya'll told me I had to go to bed and be asleep or Peter Rabbit wouldn't come see me. You would beat on the wall and say, "There he is! It's Peter Rabbit!" By the time momma and daddy got home, I was soaking wet with sweat from the covers being over my head.

There were many times that you took up for me . . . like when you thought Papa Moody was kid-napping me and you rode your bike as fast as you could by his car yelling at him. Then, time when Tiger told me he was going to kill me at the bus stop and you got in his face. It didn't matter that you were half his size, you stuck up for your little sister.

As we got older, when I was in high school and on the dance line, there was one night that you thought you could do my routine. You got my notes and started trying to do it, "Arms in the shape of an L and jump to the side." I walked in and you jumped in the chair. It was so funny. It cracks me up still today! Oh my Gosh!! Do you remember the night when I wore Desitin on my face and you came home and I woke up and scared you! I didn't mean to, but you didn't know that I was trying a new beauty treatment. I can't stop laughing now. That was so funny!!

I'll never forget that Christmas when I wanted the black rabbit coat so bad and momma said no, but you went back and bought it for me. I loved that jacket, I wish I still had it. Then there was that time when my kitten, Wild-Fire got killed and you came in with a little pink kitten in your purse for me. Roscoe grew up and liked Daddy better than us girls but that was such a special moment.

We have shared a lot of special moments . . . the birth of your children, the birth of my children, the birth of your grandchildren. Wow!! You are OLD! Sorry . . . really, It has been an honor to share in all the moments good and bad. It's an honor to be your sister! I love you Frances!!

Happy Birthday to my favorite cousin.  Yes it is true, we are getting older, but that should not stop you from planning for the future.  I am still working and even learning new things.  I have no plans on stopping, no matter how old I am.  Now that your kids are older, it is time for you to be the person God created you to be.  You are still the cutie you always were.

Love you,   Joanne Norman Henderson
